Yearly luck, traditionally called Saewun, reads each calendar year's moving pillar against your fixed birth chart. Your day pillar(especially the day stem, your day element) is the anchor we score against. We compare the year's stem and branch to your helpful and caution element lists, name the leading life theme, and show how the year interacts with your chart.

How it differs from decade luck

Decade luck is the longer backdrop — one pillar for roughly ten years. Yearly luck is the annual layer — a new pillar every calendar year. Both are scored against the same helpful and caution lists, but yearly luck also runs theme scoring across life areas (identity, money, pressure, rest, and others).

How we calculate the theme

  1. Compute the calendar year pillar (stem + branch).
  2. Add weighted points into life themes from the year stem, year branch, helpful/caution touches, decade backdrop, and branch interactions with your chart.
  3. The highest-scoring theme names the headline for that year.
  4. Pillar ease is a separate check on stem and branch elements — not the same as which theme wins. Four answers: supportive, demanding, steady, or push and pull, the last being a year whose stem and branch pull opposite ways, which is about one year in five.
