Visibility & attraction

Visibility & attraction, traditionally called Dohwa, is a classical folk branch label for visibility, social spark, and attraction energy. We show it in yearly luck when the calendar year branch matches your visibility branch — leanings for context, not romance commands or fate.

Modern framing in this app

Like the three-year cycle and movement labels, dohwa is not personalized from your full four pillars the way yearly theme scoring is. It comes from a single lookup: everyone sharing your birth-year animal triad shares the same visibility branch.

We show it as a traditional visibility/connection window — social spark or attraction energy may feel more present. When theme scoring also reads active that year, both labels can appear together; they answer different questions and neither overrides the other.

How we calculate it

One lookup from your natal year branch animalagainst the calendar year's branch.

  1. Read your birth year branch (the animal on your year pillar — the same anchor as the three-year cycle and movement labels).
  2. Map it to one of four three-harmony animal triads; each triad has a fixed visibility branch (below).
  3. When the calendar year branch equals that visibility branch, we show the badge on the yearly row.

Tiger, Horse, Dog

Visibility branch: Rabbit

Monkey, Rat, Dragon

Visibility branch: Rooster

Snake, Rooster, Ox

Visibility branch: Horse

Pig, Rabbit, Goat

Visibility branch: Rat

Visibility & attraction vs movement & travel

  • Visibility & attraction (Dohwa) — checked at the yearly level only.
  • Movement & travel (Yeokma) — checked at both the yearly and monthly level, so it can surface more often across a year.

Both come from the same four birth-year triads, but every triad's visibility branch and movement branch are different animals — and a calendar year carries one branch. So the two can never badge the same year. If you see both inside one year, the movement one is on a month.
